TRATA smoked herring contains tender fillets in vegetable oil, which have been cold smoked in a wood-fired oven in our facilities, with extra attention to the duration of smoking for a balance of flavor. We use special wood chips in order to obtain a safe smoked product, highlighting a ripe smell and taste. TRATA herring retains the distinctive, rich flavor of smoked fish with a subtle saltiness.
Our herring is caught in the clear waters of North Atlantic and is delivered to us in small tender fillets. Both the experience of our suppliers for the raw material and ours for processing with meticulous quality controls guarantee a prime can product. This product comes from a fishery that has been independently certified to the MSC’s standard for a well-managed and sustainable fishery.
